Austin Peay State University Women's Track & Field

Asha Gibson-Smith is in her third season leading the Governors' cross country and track and field programs after joining the Governors in July 2023. Since being named head coach, the Governors broke four athletic and three academic awards. She previously served as an assistant coach at Drake from 2019-2022, where she helped develop an Olympic Games qualifier and multiple conference champions. Before Drake, Gibson-Smith was an assistant coach at Tennessee State from 2014-2019, where she contributed to NCAA championship qualifiers and multiple OVC champions. She began her coaching career at Jacksonville State University from 2008-2014, where she helped establish 14 school records and developed numerous conference champions and junior national qualifiers.
