Joining the Baylor men's golf coaching staff in February 2026, Richie Coughlan is a former PGA, European and Canadian Tour player with 20 years' experience as a golf instructor. Previously, he was part of the 2022 NCAA national championship team at the University of Texas, where he was a volunteer assistant coach for five years and a full-time assistant in 2022-23. Coughlan got his start in teaching as a staff instructor at Schenectady Municipal Golf Course in New York in 2006 after finishing up his professional playing career. Part of the PGA TOUR Academy for almost 10 years, he served as the Director of Instruction at TPC San Antonio for 5 1/2 years and was named the PGA TOUR Academy Instructor of the Year in 2014. A native of Ireland, Coughlan was an All-American at Clemson in 1997 and became the first pro player in history to qualify for the PGA and European Tour in his rookie season.
