Volunteer Assistant Coach

Edward Doherty enters his first season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Boston College golf program. Doherty has been a Class A PGA Member since 2016 and currently serves as the PGA Teaching Professional at Black Rock Country Club in Hingham, Mass. The 2021 Assistant Golf Professional of the Year for both the New England PGA and Massachusetts chapter of the NEPGA, Doherty specializes in teaching and coaching and continuously looks for new instruction techniques and working with players on their mental game approach, course management, and technical swing thoughts. Learning from some of the top coaches in the country, including Adam Kolloff and Jason Sutton, Doherty earned his certification from legendary PGA Coach Scott Cowx. He also ttended Andrew Rice’s Coach Camp alongside George Gankas, Sean Foley and Cameron McCormick. He is actively involved with junior golf and is a certified U.S. Kids Coach. With over 10 years in the golf business, Doherty has worked at some of the country’s most prestigious country clubs, including TPC Myrtle Beach, Worcester Country Club, Oak Hill Country Club, Isleworth Golf & Country Club, Long Boat Key Club, and Baker Hill Golf Club. Originally from Niagara Falls, N.Y., Doherty has also competed in various NEPGA events. He is a 2005 graduate of Southern New Hampshire University and earned his degree in golf course operation and grounds management in 2011 graduate from the Golf Academy of America, where he was the recipient of the President
