Chris Fenelon

Biography

Chris Fenelon was named head football strength & conditioning coach on Jan. 27, 2025 after spending three years serving as the head strength and conditioning coach for Temple University’s football program. Fenelon will oversee all aspects of BGSU football’s strength and conditioning program. Before his time at Temple, Fenelon spent three seasons as a member of the Ohio State football strength and conditioning staff. He joined OSU as an assistant coach in January 2019. During his tenure, the Buckeyes won two Big Ten Championships and earned berths in two College Football Playoffs. In 2020, they defeated Clemson in the Sugar Bowl, 49-28, before facing Alabama in the National Championship Game. A native of Bellerose, N.Y., Fenelon also spent three years on the strength staff at Iowa State University prior to joining Ohio State. His time at Iowa State coincided with the first three years of the Matt Campbell era, a former Bowling Green assistant coach. During Fenelon’s tenure, the Cyclones experienced notable success, winning 16 games and achieving their highest Big 12 Conference finish in 40 years (third in 2018). The 2017 Cyclones set school records for wins against ranked opponents (three, including Oklahoma) and road victories (five). Iowa State also set records for conference wins in each of Fenelon’s last two seasons and earned bowl game appearances both years.
