David Florea

Biography

David Florea has worked in the sports medicine department at BGSU since May 2018. In April 2025 he took over the title head football athletic trainer. He previously was is an assistant athletic trainer serving as the second contact for football and primary tennis. Before arriving at BGSU, he was an assistant athletic trainer at Western Michigan University, where he served as the athletic trainer for the hockey and dance programs. Florea was also previously an assistant athletic trainer at the United States Naval Academy, where he worked with the football, hockey, and women’s tennis teams. Florea earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic training and clinic management from Bowling Green State University in 2011. He also holds a master of science in athletic training from the University of Toledo in 2013. In 2014, Florea received the Free Communications Master's Student Poster Presentation Award for his graduate work at the National Athletic Trainers' Association Clinical Symposia for his poster titled "Electromyographic Biofeedback Immediately Increases Quadriceps Corticospinal Excitability." Florea is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association, and Ohio Athletic Trainers’ Society.
