Dan Mulrooney

Biography

Recruiting Area: Connecticut, New Jersey, New York (Long Island only), Eastern Pennsylvania Dan Mulrooney is in his second season with the Bears in 2026 as the Defensive Coordinator and also coaches the inside linebackers. A New England native with over a decade of coaching experience, Mulrooney returned to the Northeast after a three-year stint as head coach/defensive coordinator at Lock Haven. Mulrooney led an impressive overhaul of the Bears' defense in his first season in 2025, which included ranking first in the Ivy League with 21 takeaways, a nearly a 100 percent increase from the previous season. Brown also ranked third in the league with 11 interceptions, and led the league in both forced fumbles and fumble recoveries. Brown ranked second in the league with 22.0 sacks and allowed its fewest yards per game in 10 years. Brown posted its first shutout in 13 years, and its win over URI in the Governor's Cup was its first top-10 win since 1981. Individually, Mulrooney also coached linebacker John Perdue, who was named an Academic All-American and was Brown's first Associated Press All-American since 2006. At the helm of Division II Lock Haven, Mulrooney helped lead the Bald Eagles to their best two-year stretch in over 40 years, posting 10 wins between 2023 and 2024, with the five victories in each year marking the most in a season for the program since 1982.
