Biography

Jeff Yu started his tenure as Calvin women's lacrosse goalie coach in 2021. During his tenure, Calvin goalies have been awarded All-MIAA and Defensive Player of the Week honors. Prior to his time in Michigan, Yu was the goalie coach at Regis University (Colo.) (DII) from 2014-17. During his time at Regis, Yu played a pivotal role in developing goaltenders that consistently ranked in the NCAA top 10 in save percentage and goals against average. He also assisted in leading Regis to the program's first NCAA postseason appearance in 2017. Yu also serves as goalie coach at East Grand Rapids High School, where he has helped the program to state championships in 2019, 2021 and 2022. His goalies have earned All-State honors in each of those three seasons. He graduated from Indiana University in 2004, where he was goalkeeper for the IU men's club team and later an assistant coach for the women's team. Yu is a Doctor of Physical Therapy with Corewell Health and lives in East Grand Rapids with his wife and daughter.
