Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

Anthony Gholson completed his eighth season as an assistant men's basketball coach for the Capital University men's basketball team. In August 2020, Gholson was tabbed the Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Designee (ADID) to aid in promoting diversity and equity in the department. Since he first arrived in 2013, Capital players have been granted 15 all-conference awards, including two first team selections (Mark Minch, 2016 and Austin Schreck, 2019). Schreck was named to the All-OAC second team in 2018 and in 2019 was First Team All-OAC, OAC Player of the Year, OAC Defensive Player of the Year, D3hoops and NABC First Team All-Region, Academic All-American and an NABC All-American. Caleb Cox joined him as an all-conference pick and an Academic All-American that same year, accolades that came after CU won a share of the regular season conference championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Prior to Capital, Gholson served as head men's basketball coach at Heidelberg University, where he led the Student Princes to more than 50 victories over the course of five seasons (2008-13). Gholson guided Heidelberg to the 2010 OAC Tournament championship game. Gholson was also the head coach (2000-04) and director of athletics (1999-05) at Columbus State Community College. While at CSCC, Gholson's teams compiled an 86-36 record (.704 winning percentage) and a trio of 20-win seasons. The Cougars were ranked No. 1 in NJCAA Division II in 2003-04, when the team won th
