Assistant Coach
Coach Brandon Murer enters his 20th season with the Blue Demons in the 2025-26 season, having joined the program in 2005 as the lead throws coach. During his tenure, DePaul throwers have claimed 62 BIG EAST titles, produced 19 NCAA Championship Qualifiers, and broken school records 27 times - holding 11 of the program’s 12 current throwing records. Under his guidance, five athletes have earned All-American honors, solidifying DePaul’s throws group as one of the most decorated units in the BIG EAST. The 2024-25 season was another strong showing by the throws squad, highlighted by Kash Allen’s continued rise. Allen broke the school record in the shot put multiple times, ultimately setting the mark at 16.10m and capturing the BIG EAST outdoor title. Jessica Beckman also had a defining season throwing a school record mark of 52.97m in the discus throw. Freshman Jaiden Gary also had a standout season by winning both the indoor and outdoor BIG EAST titles in the shot put. Alex Bernstein remained a consistent force in the hammer throw, securing another BIG EAST crown and advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, securing his place in the top-20 throwers in the nation. In the summer of 2024, Noelle Malkamaki dominated the women’s F46 shot put at the 2024 Paris Summer Paralympics, earning gold with a world record throw of 14.06m. Collin Feaster
Collin Feaster began his role as Communications Assistant in July 2024 and serves as the primary contact for men's tennis, women's soccer, and track and field/cross country. He also serves on the DePaul Athletics Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee as co-chair of the Storytelling subcommittee. A Quad Cities, Iowa native, Feaster graduated cum laude from DePaul in 2024 with a bachelor's degree in Sports Business. He is currently pursuing his MBA at DePaul's Kellstadt Graduate School of Business. During his time at DePaul, Feaster has supported communications efforts for multiple program milestones, including a BIG EAST Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance for men's tennis, a return to the BIG EAST semifinals for women's soccer, and consecutive conference runner-up finishes for track and field. His work has also supported national recognition, including All-America honors and a Team USA gold medal performance. Past experience includes part-time/seasonal roles with Players Sport & Social Group, the Chicago Bears, Northwestern Athletics, the Iowa Cubs, Swarm AAU Basketball, and the YMCA.

David Thompson joined the Blue Demons in November of 2024. Thompson comes back to Chicago following stops at San Francisco State and NYU the last four years. In his first season at DePaul, Coach Thompson’s hurdles and horizontal jumps group made an immediate impact, setting four school records. Jaiah Hopf had a standout indoor season, finishing runner-up in both the triple jump and long jump at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships and breaking the indoor triple jump school record with a mark of 13.03m. Darius Brown dominated the hurdles, breaking both the DePaul and BIG EAST records in the 60m hurdles while also capturing the conference title. He went on to earn Second Team All-American honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships after running a record time of 7.61 to take 10th place. During the outdoor season, Brown was crowned Drake Relays Champion and later shattered the school and BIG EAST records in the 110m hurdles en route to a 6th place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, earning First Team All-American Status. Jaiah Hopf claimed the BIG EAST title in the triple jump, finished runner-up in the long jump, and broke the school triple jump record at the NCAA West Regionals with a jump of 13.26m. Eveline Reno also earned a runner-up finish in the triple jump at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships, contributing to a stellar year for the group. Dr. Julia Bruene
Dr. Julia Bruene is a sports medicine physician with special interests in acute and chronic orthopedic injuries, concussion management, care of female athletes, care of combat athletes/mixed martial arts, and special needs athletes. In 2006, Dr. Bruene graduated magna cum laude earning her bachelor's degree in health planning and administration, with a minor in chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She went on to complete her medical degree at Rush University Medical College, Chicago, IL graduating in the top 20 percent of her class. Dr. Bruene served as chief resident in the Advocate Lutheran General Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program, Park Ridge, IL. She then completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Rush University Medical Center. A Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu enthusiast and recreational runner, Dr. Bruene understands how vital physical well-being is to athletes. She also views exercise as medicine, aiding patients in reaching their wellness potential. Dedicated to keeping fellow sports enthusiasts healthy, Dr. Bruene volunteers to provide medical coverage for Chicago-area sporting events such as the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. She has also participated in team coverage for local area high school, college, and professional teams, and is a team physician for the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls, DePaul University, and Trinity International University. Dr. Kathleen Weber
Dr. Weber, the Director of Primary Care/Sports Medicine and Women's Sports Medicine at Rush University Medical Center, possesses a unique expertise with the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal issues. In addition, she is the Founder and the Director of the Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship at Rush University Medical Center. She has taught numerous medical students, residents, and fellows and is the recipient of numerous awards for excellence in patient care and teaching. Dr. Weber serves on the board of Girls in the Game and was honored in 2006 as their Health Champion. Dr. Weber has published many articles, book chapters and is an active researcher. A former college athlete, she has been involved in athletics as a team physician, an exercise physiologist, and as an avid athlete. Dr. Weber's reputation as a leading sports medicine physician is enhanced by her remarkable activity in the treatment of high-level professional athletes. She serves as the head primary care sports medicine team physician for the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago White Sox and the head team physician for the Chicago Force Women's Football. She also serves as co-head team physician for the DePaul Blue Demons and the physician for the Hubbard Street Dance and the River North Dance Companies. Faithe Ways joined DePaul as Senior Associate Athletics Director for NCAA Compliance in October 2024, overseeing all of DePaul's NCAA compliance operations. Hailey Lacy
Hailey Lacy, RDN, joined DePaul Athletics in August 2022 as the athletics department Registered Sports Dietitian. In her role, Lacy works with all of DePaul's sports teams to conduct individual student-athlete nutrition assessments, administer performance/medical nutrition therapy, coordinate team educations, perform supplement efficacy research and facilitate contracts with food vendors and wholesale partners. Prior to joining DePaul, Lacy worked as a Registered Sports Dietitian at IMG Academy where she taught a research-based curriculum to student-athletes and adult campers in addition to counseling and educating campers on performance-based nutrition strategies. Lacy did her internship with the University of South Florida Athletics Department where she planned and arranged meals for athletic teams and staffs in addition to counseling athletes on their nutrition goals. Lacy also administered and interpreted results of BIA testing to student-athletes while also assisting in the fuel station. Additional internships for Lacy took place at Morton Plant Hospital and Kentucky Athletics. Lacy graduated with her B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics from Eastern Kentucky University in May 2020 where she was a track & field student-athlete. She went on to earn her M.S. in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition from Florida State in 2022. She currently holds a RD credential through the Commission on Dietetics Registration and is a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) with the State of Illinois
