Corey Muscara, a nationally recognized pitching coach with more than a decade of experience developing elite collegiate staffs, was announced as the 26th head coach in Duke Baseball history on June 19, 2025. Muscara brings 15 years of collegiate coaching experience to Duke, including the last four seasons as an assistant coach at Wake Forest, where he helped guide the Demon Deacons to an average of 43 wins per season and reached the College World Series in 2023 for the first time since 1955. In 2023, Muscara was named D1Baseball's Assistant Coach of the Year after helping lead Wake Forest to a program-record 54 wins. That season, the Demon Deacons led the nation in ERA (2.83), hits allowed per nine innings (6.59), strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.26) and strikeouts per nine innings (12.1). The success continued in 2024, as Wake Forest posted 11.9 strikeouts per nine innings, second-best nationally. In 2025, Muscara’s staff led the ACC and ranked fifth nationally with seven shutouts, while also finishing eighth in the country with 11.1 strikeouts per nine innings. The Demon Deacons advanced to an NCAA Regional Final for the second time in three years. Before joining Wake Forest, Muscara served as Maryland’s pitching coach from 2018-21. He helped the Terrapins secure the seventh-ranked recruiting class in the country in 2020, highlighted by a strong group of incoming pitchers. Matt Wessinger arrives in Durham ahead of the 2026 season after spending the previous three seasons with Wake Forest, where he helped guide the Demon Deacons to five new program records in regular season wins, ACC wins, ACC series wins, postseason wins, and overall wins. Under the direction of Wessinger, Wake posted a program high in fielding percentage (.979) and found success on the base paths, setting a new program record in runs scored (591). Before he arrived in Winston-Salem, Wessinger was instrumental in Hofstra's magical 2022 season as the Pride earned the program's first-ever berth in the NCAA Baseball Tournament, compiling 30 wins and winning the team's first CAA championship. From April 2020-March 2023, under Salvino's leadership the Fortune 500 company and publicly traded entity on the NYSE delivered consistent financial performance, including three-year total shareholder return (TSR) performance at 113.7%, far outpacing the GICS 4510 companies at 25.4% and the S&P 500 over the same time frame. He previously held senior leadership roles at Accenture and Carrick Capital Partners, where he advised high-growth companies and helped scale AI and data-driven ventures. Scott Loiseau joined the Blue Devils staff ahead of the 2026 season following a brief stint with the Dayton Flyers in 2025. Prior to his time at Dayton, Loisean spent one season with Penn State, helping guide the Nittany Lions to a winning record for the first time since 2016. For 14 years, Loiseau served as the head coach at NCAA Division II Southern New Hampshire, compiling a 480-209-2 (.696) record and leading the Penmen to 11 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. Those 11 appearances included eight NCAA Regional finals and five trips to the NCAA Division II College World Series. SNHU won 25 or more games in its final 11 seasons at the helm, including seven 40-plus win seasons and a 50-win mark in 2016. In addition to six Northeast-10 Coach of the Year awards, Loiseau was named NCBWA East Region Coach of the Year four times, ABCA East Region Coach of the Year five times, and NEIBA East Region Coach of the Year six times.
