Biography
Joey Carnes joined Duke Athletics in June 2024 as a Sports Performance Coach, working with the Blue Devils field hockey, men's tennis and track & field programs. Before joining Duke, Carnes served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Women's Lacrosse at the United States Naval Academy. His extensive experience also includes positions at North Carolina State, Florida State, University of Oregon, University of South Florida and Western Kentucky University. Carnes earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Western Kentucky University in 2007, followed by a Master of Science in Exercise Science in 2009. He holds a certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
