Biography

Chris Thomsen was named Florida State’s deputy head coach and tight ends coach on December 19, 2019, and enters his seventh season in Tallahassee in 2026. Thomsen has coached 118 different all-conference players who have combined for 186 all-conference recognitions as well as 25 individual All-Americans who have earned 38 All-American certificates, including 13 first-team selections. Randy Pittman Jr. was an honorable mention All-ACC selection in 2025 after catching 23 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns. Pittman also added three rushing touchdowns and passed for one score to solidify himself as one of the nation's most versatile players. At Virginia, Pittman became the third player in FSU history to throw, catch and run for a touchdown in the same game. He is just the second tight end in the past 30 years to accomplish the feat. Florida State tight ends set an FSU record with a touchdown catch in five consecutive games. The unit also blocked for an offense that ran for 218.7 yards per game, the Seminoles' highest per-game average since 1995. FSU's offense ranked sixth nationally with 472.1 total yards per game. Thomsen oversaw the development of true freshmen tight ends Landen Thomas and Amaree Williams in 2024.
