Dr. Jason McCullough enters his 21st season as the head cross country coach and is beginning his ninth year as head track & field coach at Fort Hays State University in 2025-26. He's led the men's and women's cross country teams to one national appearance each, with the women finishing 18th nationally in 2016 and the men placing 29th in the country in 2019, in addition to eight athletes who have qualified individually. He was named MIAA Conference Coach of the Year after leading the 2012 men's cross country team to its first-ever MIAA title. That squad ranked as high as 17th in the national polls and second in the NCAA Central Region. Additionally, the Tiger track & field squad has had 127 national qualifiers during his eight years as head coach, including five National Champions (Madison Wolf - 2018 Javelin, Brett Meyer - 2019 Outdoor 1,500m, Alexandra Hart - 2021 Indoor High Jump, Ryan Stanley - 2021 Outdoor Pole Vault, Ryan Stanley - 2022 Indoor Pole Vault), 84 All-Americans, 112 All-Region performances, 128 All-MIAA awards and 36 MIAA champions. McCullough returned to the cross country and track & field squads after a successful running career with the Tiger program from 1996-99. Dr. Andreas Maheras is in the 21st year of his second stint with the Tiger track and field program in 2025-26. Maheras has been in charge of the throwers and their training regime since the 2005-06 season after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at FHSU in 1991. As a discus and shot-put thrower in his native country of Greece, he competed both for his club and as a member of the national team and won numerous awards from 1980 to 1987. He received his diploma from the University of Athens in Physical Education and Sports Science in 1986. He also served in the Greek Army from 1987 to 1988 where he was a sergeant in the reserves and a selected member of the Greek Presidential Guard. After serving in the army, he worked as an elementary school physical education teacher in Athens, Greece for one year. Dr. Maheras came to the United States in 1989, having received a scholarship from the ministry of culture in Greece to study abroad. He served as an assistant coach at Western Michigan University for two years where he obtained his master's degree in Coaching and Sport Studies in 1990. After his first stint at Fort Hays State, Maheras attended the University of Kansas where in 1995 he obtained his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Exercise Science with emphasis in Biomechanics. He has authored a research project about weight training for track and field events and has published several original articles pertaining to throwing in both the domestic and the international literature. Kelly Meyer

Assistant Track and Field Coach

Kelly Meyer is in her eighth year on the track and field coaching staff in 2025-26 and is in her second season as a full-time assistant coach. She previously spent three seasons as an assistant coach responsible for sprints, two years as a graduate assistant and one year as a volunteer assistant. She previously competed for the Tigers as a sprinter from 2015-18, earning two All-American honors in the 400m dash and earning three All-MIAA honors, including a conference title in the 2018 indoor distance medley relay. Meyer is a two-time graduate of Fort Hays State University's Department of Health and Human Performance, completing a bachelor's degree in 2019 before finishing her master's degree in 2021. Formerly Kelly Wycoff, Meyer resides in Hays with her husband and fellow former Tiger Brett Meyer and their son, Judah.
