Chico Rego

Biography

Francisco 'Chico' Rego is in his second season leading the GW men's and women's swimming & diving program in 2025-26, after being named head coach at GW in June of 2024. Rego excelled in his first year at the helm of the program, leading both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams back to the promise land with a pair of A-10 titles. In doing so, Rego was named the A-10 Men's Coach of the Year, leading multiple student-athletes to major awards, including the A-10 Men's Most Outstanding Performer Connor Rodgers, the A-10 Women's Most Outstanding Divier Olivia Paquette, and the A-10 Men's Most Outstanding Rookie Shae Stratton. Coming from the ACC's Georgia Tech where he was Associate Head Coach, from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Rego earned the opportunity by steadily and relentlessly working his way up the coaching ladder, domestically and abroad, having received his first chance at college coaching as a Graduate Assistant at the SEC's Auburn in 2016.
