Biography

Michael Green enters his first season as head coach of the football program in 2026 after serving as assistant coach at Hobart for 12 seasons, including five seasons as Defensive Coordinator. A Hobart alumnus who graduated in 2014, Green mentored the offensive line until 2021 before taking control of the defense. As defensive coordinator, he mentored 28 All-Liberty League selections, four all-region players, three All-Americans and two Liberty League Defensive Players of the Year. His 2024 defense was statistically one of the best in Hobart's 131-year history, ranking in the top 25 nationally in seven statistical categories and setting a single-season record for fewest yards per completion allowed. Green's defenses consistently ranked among the nation's best in scoring defense, pass efficiency defense, and total defense. As offensive line coach, he oversaw the development of 18 all-conference linemen, including All-American Ali Marpet, who was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second round. During his playing days as a two-year starter at center, Green earned third-team All-America honors and was a two-time Academic All-American, earning a bachelor's degree in mathematics. A native of Belleair Beach, Florida, Green's Hobart teams went 34-8 during his four years as a player with three Liberty League championships and three straight NCAA tournament appearances.
