Biography

Smith enters her first year on staff at Jacksonville University after a successful coaching stint at her alma mater, St. John's, where she coached for seven seasons. She helped lead recruiting and player development for the Red Storm. As part of the 2022-23 staff, Smith helped St. John's to a 23-9 and a win in the NCAA tournament. Smith is one of the best players in St. John's history and competed at the highest levels of the game in her career. She earned Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-American honors as a senior and was a two-time first-team All-Big East honoree. She was inducted into the St. John's Hall of Fame in 2021. She was the 25th overall pick in the 2013 WNBA draft by the New York Liberty and played four seasons of professional basketball. Smith also spent six years representing Jamaica on the international stage, including winning the 2014 FIBA Women CBC Championship.
