Scott came to Belmont in 2023 after nine years (2015-23) at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, including the last seven (2017-23) leading the Islanders' strength and conditioning program as an assistant athletic director for sports performance. He was part of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's back-to-back Southland Conference championships in men's basketball under current Oklahoma State head coach Steve Lutz, which included consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament and a victory in the 2023 First Four. Prior to joining TAMUCC, Scott served as the head strength and conditioning coach at Division II Texas A&M-Kingsville. Scott was a placekicker at Northwestern State (2005-07) and Midwestern State (2008-09), where he was part of a conference championship team in 2009. He earned his bachelor's degree in sports and fitness management from Midwestern State in 2009 and a master's degree in exercise physiology from the school in 2011.
