Cullen Carstens

Biography

Cullen Carstens, a high-energy leader with 15 years of collegiate coaching experience, returned to Manhattan on December 6, 2022, to serve as Kansas State’s associate head coach, and the 2025-26 season will be his seventh on the K-State staff. This past season, Carstens helped guide the Wildcats back to the postseason as they competed in the NCAA Bremerton Regional and finished only three strokes shy of advancing to the program’s first ever national championship. It was the seventh-straight season K-State sent either a team or individual to NCAA Regionals, the longest streak in program history. The 2024-25 Wildcats ranked fifth in program history with a 288.38 team scoring average, while their five top-five finishes on the year tied for ninth. Carstens also helped Cooper Schultz (71.99) and Nicklaus Mason (72.30) finished second and fourth, respectively, in program history in career scoring average. During his first full year back, Carstens helped the 2023-24 Wildcats rank third in school history with a 287.39 team scoring average. He also helped K-State record a team victory at the season-opening Wildcat Invitational. When adding in another Wildcat Invitational win in the fall of 2024, K-State has now won at least one event each of the last three years, its longest streak since the 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons.
