Matt Kosderka has led the turn around of the Lewis & Clark baseball program over the past eight seasons. He took over the program in 2018 after a 22nd-consecutive losing season. In year five of the project (2023), Lewis & Clark recorded their first winning season since 1995 and the team took a step further in 2024 when they tied the program record for overall (31) and conference wins (14) and earned a spot in the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in school history. The Pioneers posted their third season of 20 wins or more in four years in 2025, marking the best four-year run for the program since 1987-90. Kosderka pitched for Willamette from 1995-98 and was selected NAIA First-Team All-America and NWC Player of the Year as a senior, after which he was drafted by the Texas Rangers. As of the date of his hire at Lewis & Clark, the Willamette Athletic Hall of Famer held Willamette career records with 30 wins and 350 1/3 innings pitched.
