At Murray State Joins the Racers as Special Assistant to the Head Coach for the 2025-26 season. Before MSU Over a career that is now into its fourth decade, Grushkin brings a wealth of knowledge in the game. Coaching experience at both the NBA and collegiate level, including NCAA Division I and NCAA Division II. In 36 years working in basketball, he worked with 10 different collegiate teams and three in the professional ranks and was head coach at five teams that were nationally ranked. 12 times in his career, helped teams to a conference or postseason championship within first two seasons of arrival. As Defensive Coordinator for four different NCAA DI programs, three won league championships. Most recently worked with High Point, helping the team to its first NCAA appearance and helped he High Point defense become first in the Big South Conference in scoring & field goal defense after being nine and sixth prior to Grushkin’s arrival. At Kansas State was part of a staff that produced a run to the NCAA Elite-8. Coached at Arkansas with Hall of Famer Coach Nolan Richardson. Also coached at Arkansas State, Texas-San Antonio, Idaho State, Western Illinois, Indiana Tech and Tulsa. In 10 seasons as a head coach, all 10 teams ranked in top-25 nationally in scoring defense and at Indiana Tech, his teams had the #1, #3, #15 ranked team defenses in the country. Playing Career At Timberland High School, was rated a four-star prospect by ESPN, Rivals.com and Scout.com and 10th-best point guard and the 47th overall prospect nationally in the class of 2014. Played collegiately from 2014-19 one season at Texas A&M and three at TCU when MSU head coach Ryan Miller was an assistant to head coach Jamie Dixon. Was named to the Big-12 All-Newcomer Team in 2017 and was named All-Big 12 in 2019, both with TCU. Was part of the TCU team that upset No. 1 Kansas at the Big-12 Tournament. In 2017 was part of the TCU team that won the National Invitational Tournament. As a senior at TCU in 2018-19, As one of only two major conference players to have 400 points, 200 assists and 50 steals. Scored a career-high 23 points against Oral Roberts and had a career-high 14 assists vs Fresno State, each in 2018. Brandon Banks is in his third year as Senior Director of Creative Video for Murray State Athletics in the 2025-26 school year. He previously worked at Kentucky and UT Martin. Banks graduated from Graceland University in 2018 with a BA in Sports Management with a minor in Art. Between 2019-21, he worked as a graduate assistant at Emporia State and is a NACMA Award Winner from 2021. He has worked with notable athletes and organizations including Tyreek Hill, Kenny The Jet Smith, Master P and his son Mercy Miller, Bronny James, Sunrise Christian Academy, and BallerTV. Originally from Wichita, Kansas, Banks notably filmed most of a college sports season while recovering from a ruptured Achilles Tendon.

Was a 1000-Point player with 1,198 points in his collegiate career in 139 games played. Played professionally for two seasons in Poland and Germany where he averaged 15.4 points and 3.2 assists. At Eldorado High School, finished his prep career with 2,311 career points, third-most in the state of New Mexico history. Eric Frederick is in his 33rd year with Murray State Athletics in the 2025-26 school year, serving as the Racers' Assistant AD for Sports Medicine. He handles the daily athletic training needs for men's basketball and both MSU golf teams. With a long history working with MSU men's basketball, Frederick has been a part of teams coached by Scott Edgar, Mark Gottfried, Tevester Anderson, Mick Cronin, Billy Kennedy, Steve Prohm, Matt McMahon and the start of the Ryan Miller era in 2025. He came to Murray State in the fall of 1993 as an assistant athletic trainer. Frederick directs the sports medicine staff, works closely with MSU team doctors Dr. Richard Blalock and Dr. Richard Blalock III, and coordinates insurance and medical billing for over 350 student-athletes. He also handles travel for the men's basketball team and serves as an instructor in the Murray State Department of Applied Health Sciences. Frederick is pursuing a PhD in rehabilitation sciences at the University of Kentucky and is certified by the Board of Certification for athletic training and licensed in Kentucky. Before Murray State, he worked as a student and graduate assistant athletic trainer at Texas Christian University. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, he earned a degree in physical education with an emphasis in athletic training from TCU in 1992 and a master's degree in exercise physiology from TCU in 1995.

Eric Oberholtzer joins the Murray State Racers as Video Coordinator for the 2025-26 season. He handles all video needs for the team in this role. Oberholtzer brings experience from the basketball program at Ohio State, where he worked as a student manager from 2022-25. He has also worked with The Playbook Group as the lead of event operations, including at the Jordan Brand Classic and Nike Elite 100 camps, and previously served as a student manager with College Basketball Academy. He graduated from Ohio State in 2025 with his undergraduate degree in Sports Management.

In 2005, founded Hoop City Basketball, an organization that has offered prep basketball opportunities for youth of all ages for 20 years. Led effort in 2016 to launch the Sports Network, an organization that operates collegiate and high school basketball events such as the Jack Jones Classic and Hoop City Classic. Has been active with Memphis' Youth Athletic Foundation since 2009 as president of board of directors. Directed camps for the Memphis Grizzlies for three years. Playing Career Competed at Creighton from 2010-14 where he began as a Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman and All-Bench Team selection. He ended his run with the Bluejays as a three-time team captain and was Creighton’s Most Inspirational award in 2014. Hit 206 career 3-point baskets, good for sixth in program history. As a senior in 2013-14, had 100 assists against only 25 turnovers. After Creighton, played 10 seasons as a professional in Austria, Canada, Kosovo, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland and Romania. Played his prep basketball in Hamilton, Ontario and became the first Canadian to play at Creighton. Was invited to the 2009 Basketball Without Borders Americas event in Mexico City and to the Jordan Brand All-Canada Classic. Personal Earned a degree in psychology from Creighton in 2014 and earned a communications certificate in 2025.

Jason Nehring joins the Racers for his first season in 2025-26 as men's basketball Strength & Conditioning Coach and also works with the men's golf program. He brings more than three decades of experience in the field of strength & conditioning. Prior to coming to MSU, he worked 12 years at Seton Hall with all programs including men's basketball. He had career stops at Penn State working with all sports including men's basketball and football, and at Kentucky, where he trained student-athletes with men's and women's basketball. Nehring worked in the National Football League in four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, and was part of the 1998 Vikings team under Coach Dennis Green when the Vikings broke the NFL's season offense record with then rookie wide receiver Randy Moss. A 1996 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Nehring was a student-athlete with the UWL football team and was a member of two national championship teams at La Crosse. He earned a Master's of Science in Kinesiology and Health Promotion-Biomechanics Emphasis from Kentucky.

Playing career Played in 125 games in his career, three with Rutgers (2011-14) and two seasons at UNLV (2014-16). In 2015-16, started for the Runnin’ Rebels in all 31 games of the season Scored 987 points in his career with 385 assists. At Rutgers, scored a career-high 23 points at George Washington, making a career-high five 3-pointers in that game. In 2011, came out of Flora MacDonald Academy in Red Springs, N.C. where he was the country's No. 89 overall prospect by Scout and No. 101 overall by Rivals and a 4-star player according to Scout. Averaged 32.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game for the Cougars in 2010-11. After his college days, played from 2016-19 as a professional with stops in Austria, Canada, Mexico and Sweden. Personal Was named Academic All-Big East in back-to-back seasons. His brother Rico played collegiately at Texas-Pan American.

Coached at Grand Valley State in 2018-19 coaching at his alma mater. Served for four seasons at Auburn as Video Coordinator and Special Assistant to the Head Coach. Personal A graduate of Grand Valley State in 2008, VerHulst earned his master's degree from the University of Memphis in 2012.
