Before MSU Over a career that is now into its fourth decade, Grushkin brings a wealth of knowledge in the game. Coaching experience at both the NBA and collegiate level, including NCAA Division I and NCAA Division II. In 36 years working in basketball, he worked with 10 different collegiate teams and three in the professional ranks and was head coach at five teams that were nationally ranked. 12 times in his career, helped teams to a conference or postseason championship within first two seasons of arrival. As Defensive Coordinator for four different NCAA DI programs, three won league championships. Most recently worked with High Point, helping the team to its first NCAA appearance and helped he High Point defense become first in the Big South Conference in scoring & field goal defense after being nine and sixth prior to Grushkin’s arrival. At Kansas State was part of a staff that produced a run to the NCAA Elite-8. Coached at Arkansas with Hall of Famer Coach Nolan Richardson. Also coached at Arkansas State, Texas-San Antonio, Idaho State, Western Illinois, Indiana Tech and Tulsa. He came to Murray State in the fall of 1993 as an assistant athletic trainer. Frederick directs the sports medicine staff, works closely with MSU team doctors Dr. Richard Blalock and Dr. Richard Blalock III, and coordinates insurance and medical billing for over 350 student-athletes. He also handles travel for the men's basketball team and serves as an instructor in the Murray State Department of Applied Health Sciences. Frederick is pursuing a PhD in rehabilitation sciences at the University of Kentucky and is certified by the Board of Certification for athletic training and licensed in Kentucky. Before Murray State, he worked as a student and graduate assistant athletic trainer at Texas Christian University. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, he earned a degree in physical education with an emphasis in athletic training from TCU in 1992 and a master's degree in exercise physiology from TCU in 1995.

Jason Nehring joins the Racers for his first season in 2025-26 as men's basketball Strength & Conditioning Coach and also works with the men's golf program. He brings more than three decades of experience in the field of strength & conditioning. Prior to coming to MSU, he worked 12 years at Seton Hall with all programs including men's basketball. He had career stops at Penn State working with all sports including men's basketball and football, and at Kentucky, where he trained student-athletes with men's and women's basketball. Nehring worked in the National Football League in four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, and was part of the 1998 Vikings team under Coach Dennis Green when the Vikings broke the NFL's season offense record with then rookie wide receiver Randy Moss. A 1996 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Nehring was a student-athlete with the UWL football team and was a member of two national championship teams at La Crosse. He earned a Master's of Science in Kinesiology and Health Promotion-Biomechanics Emphasis from Kentucky.
