Michael Plank

Biography

Michael Plank joined the Oregon State staff in the role of associate head coach in the spring of 2026. Plank came to Oregon State after five seasons as an assistant coach at San Francisco. The Dons went 109-61 with Plank on staff, including four consecutive 20-win seasons. USF’s 24 wins in 2021-22, 23 wins in 2023-24 and 25 wins in 2024-25 marked the program’s three highest win totals since the 1981-82 campaign. The Dons made an NCAA Tournament appearance in Plank’s first year as an assistant coach, and made a pair of NIT appearances, including as the tournament’s No. 1 seed in 2024-25. Working alongside head coach Chris Gerlufson, Plank and the Dons staff amassed 85 wins in their first four seasons – giving Gerlufson the most wins by a head coach through his first four years in program history. Plank coached 13 All-WCC selections during his time with the Dons. San Francisco led the nation in 3-point defense in 2024-25, and the season prior the Dons recorded marquee victories over Vanderbilt and Minnesota. On the recruiting front, Plank served as a central figure with deep West Coast connections, helping bring together San Francisco's 2023 recruiting class ranked 25th nationally in overall transfer activity (via EvanMiya.com).
