Griffin Whitmer

Biography

Griffin Whitmer, a 2020 graduate of Rutgers, returned to the Rutgers athletic department in March 2022 and currently serves as Assistant Director, Communications. In his role, Whitmer is the primary contact for baseball, women's soccer and gymnastics. He also oversees the credentialing process and stat crew for football. Whitmer joined Rutgers after serving multiple roles in the athletic department at the University of Washington in Seattle. He joined UW in February 2021 as a graduate assistant and was the primary contact for the baseball program. He moved to the role of Communications Assistant in the summer of 2021, continuing his work with the baseball team and also acting as the media contact for both men's and women's soccer, softball and gymnastics. He worked with the UW men's soccer team, managing communications, social media and game management efforts for the Huskies, who reached No. 1 in the national rankings, hosted three NCAA Tournament matches and advanced to the National Championship Game in the College Cup. He was the secondary media contact for the UW men's basketball and women's basketball teams and served on the nationally-recognized stat crew for football, working all Washington home games as well as the Rose Bowl Game in Pasadena, Calif. in January 2022.
