Tyler Ackley

Biography

Tyler Ackley was named the fifth head coach in the history of the Saint Joseph College of Maine Men's Basketball program in September 2021. In 2025, Ackley led the Monks to their second GNAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance, earning GNAC Coach of the Year honors. He comes to Saint Joseph's from Colby College, where he served as The John "Swisher" Mitchell Assistant Coach for four years and helped lead the Mules to their first-ever NESCAC Championship game appearance and first NCAA Tournament berth in 23 years in 2020. Prior to Colby, Ackley was a three-year assistant coach at Nebraska Wesleyan University, where he recruited and coached seven players who earned 14 all-conference honors. His recruiting efforts helped Nebraska Wesleyan win the 2018 NCAA DIII National Championship. A graduate of Castleton University with a bachelor's degree in Sports Administration and a master's degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University-Irvine, Ackley was a four-year letter winner and two-year starting point guard for the Castleton Spartans, helping lead them to their first-ever NAC title and NCAA tournament appearance in 2012. He hails from Scotia, New York, where he was an All-Conference player at Scotia-Glenville High School.
