Kurt Rotthoff

Biography

Kurt Rotthoff enters his 10th season as volunteer assistant coach with the Pirates in 2016-17. With 19 years of competitive swimming experience, Rotthoff joined Seton Hall upon earning his Ph.D. in applied economics at Clemson University. While with the Tigers, Rotthoff served as a graduate assistant swim coach and was primarily responsible for stroke technique critiquing and strength & conditioning. He also earned a master’s degree in economics from Clemson in 2004. Prior to his stint in South Carolina, Rotthoff was a four-year letter winner at Westminster College (1998-02) where he garnered All-Conference honors in each of his four years and was a tri-captain on the swimming team. Additional collegiate athletics ventures for Rotthoff include serving as a coach and counselor for three summers at the University of Texas Swim Camp, and as an administrative assistant to the athletics director at Westminster, where his main responsibilities included game operations and NCAA compliance. In addition to being a Seton Hall swim coach, Dr. Rotthoff is an associate professor of economics and finance at the Stillman School of Business. He teaches Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Money & Banking, Sport Finance, and a seminar on economics & liberty to undergraduate students. He also teaches Principles of Economic & Finance and Sport Finance to MBA students.
