Biography

Primary Responsibilities: Offensive Coordinator Tae Gibbs is entering his second season at Southern Illinois, after been hired in April 2024 as an assistant coach and player development coach. Before joining Southern Illinois, Gibbs spent three seasons with Wright State's men's basketball program as the Director of Player Development under head coach Scott Nagy. During his tenure at Wright State, Gibbs helped develop five players who earned all-league honors. Notably, in 2022, the team won the Horizon League Championship and achieved a significant milestone by securing its first NCAA Division I victory with a First Four win over Bryant in the NCAA Tournament. In 2024, Wright State distinguished itself as one of the best offensive teams in the nation. The team led the country with a field goal percentage of 53.3 percent, ranked second in effective field goal percentage at 58.5 percent, placed fifth in two-point percentage at 58.8 percent, and came in tenth for three-point percentage at 38.3 percent. Additionally, Wright State averaged 86.5 points per game, which ranked fourth in the nation. Gibbs previously spent three seasons at Trevecca Nazarene University, where he rose to the position of associate head coach after initially joining the staff as an assistant before the 2018-19 season.
