Caleb Lawrence joined the Tennessee staff in August of 2023 after spending two seasons at Richmond. While with the Spiders, he assisted in coaching back-to-back top-three team finishes at the A-10 Championships. He worked extensively with all aspects of recruiting and training during his tenure at Richmond alongside Barany, the established head coach of the Spiders. “I couldn’t be more excited to join the Volunteer family,” Lawrence said. “I have admired Matt Kredich and his staff for some time now and would like to extend a huge thanks to him and Senior Associate Athletic Director Tyler Johnson for this incredible opportunity. I can’t wait to begin competing for championships on Rocky Top!” At Richmond, Lawrence also helped the women’s swimming & diving program achieve tremendous success in the classroom. In February 2023, the swimming & diving team won the Richmond Team Academic Award, and swimmer Claire O’Shaughnessy was named the University of Richmond Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Prior to his tenure at Richmond, Lawrence served as a volunteer assistant coach at Notre Dame for three seasons.
