Houston Moore

Biography

Houston Moore was hired as the men's golf head coach at Texas Rio Grande Valley in June 2022, coming from the University of Houston where he served as assistant coach. At Houston, he helped the Cougars win the Border Olympics and guided the team to four top-five finishes, including third place at the American Athletic Conference Championships, while coaching five student-athletes to All-Conference honors including AAC Freshman of the Year Jacob Borow. Prior to Houston, Moore spent two seasons at Cameron University (2019-21), leading the Aggies to three top-five finishes including third place at the Lone Star Conference Championship. He also spent two seasons at Ranger College (2017-19) as men's and women's head coach, helping the women's team to program firsts and the men's team to their second win in program history while guiding one golfer to No. 1 national ranking. Moore played four years of collegiate golf, spending one year each at Clarendon College and Concordia University, and two years at LeTourneau University where he was a two-time Player of the Year and team captain, set the school record for most top-20 finishes in a season, and recorded the fourth-best scoring average in program history. He graduated from LeTourneau with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Communication in 2016.
