His enthusiasm and energy for Air Force hockey are that powerful. As the fourth head coach in the history of Air Force hockey, Serratore was in his office less than a week when he pointed out what it would take to turn the program around. “We want to be the hardest working team in the country,” Serratore said. “We want to have a team full of over-achievers. Not everyone is blessed with outstanding ability, but everyone can work hard and play with pride and spirit.” Serratore enters his 29th season at Air Force with a 472-457-102 record at the Academy. He has an overall mark of 521-549-111 in 32 seasons as a college head coach. He became just the 16th coach in the history of NCAA Division I hockey to reach 500 Division I wins and currently stands 15th on the list. Only one other active coach has 500 or more career Division I wins: Quinnipiac’s Rand Pecknold (591 entering 2025-26). Not only has Serratore turned the Falcon program around, he has turned it into a legitimate national contender, with seven conference tournament championships, two regular-season conference championships and seven NCAA appearances in the last 19 years.
