Brian Plotkin

Biography

Brian Plotkin heads into his sixth season at the helm of Army West Point men's soccer in 2026 after being named the 12th head coach in program history in May of 2021. In 2022, Plotkin had a breakthrough campaign in his second season at West Point as Army won the Patriot League regular season championship for the first time in 26 seasons. Plotkin was named 2022 Patriot League Coach of the Year following the season, becoming the first Army head coach to win the award since 1996. In his first season at the helm in 2021, Army had a record of 8-7-3. Plotkin's coaching career began in Chicago as an assistant for the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers from 2013-15. In 2016, he joined Dartmouth College as an assistant coach under Chad Riley, helping the team win two Ivy League Championships and make two NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2018, Plotkin moved to South Bend with Coach Riley at Notre Dame, where the Fighting Irish made the 2018 and 2019 NCAA Tournaments. The Lisle, Illinois native played collegiate soccer at Indiana University where he helped the Hoosiers win back-to-back National Championships in 2003 and 2004. As a senior, Plotkin finished as the runner-up for the Hermann Trophy Award and was named Big 10 Player of the Year and 1st Team All-American. He was selected 20th overall in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft by the Chicago Fire and played in MLS with the Chicago Fire and Columbus Crew, winning the 2006 US Open Cup and the 2008 MLS Cup.
