Biography

One of the most decorated assistant coaches in the history of college basketball, Tom Moore is a four-time national champion who is completed his 20th overall season at UConn in 2024-25. He was an assistant for Jim Calhoun from 1994-07 before a successful head coaching stint, then returned to Connecticut on Dan Hurley's inaugural staff in 2018-19. Ahead of the 2025-26 season, Moore officially transitioned into the program's General Manager, a role he held in concert with on-court duties since the outset of the NIL/Portal era. Moore recently concluded the seventh season of his second stint as an assistant as Connecticut, 20th overall at UConn and his 38th season in coaching. He has been a part of four national championships (1999, 2004, 2023, 2024) on the UConn bench - most for any assistant coach in the modern era of the NCAA Tournament. A 1987 graduate of Boston University, Moore immediately took to coaching and joined the staff at his hometown Worcester State as an assistant for the ‘87-88 season. After a season as an assistant at Assumption he returned to Worcester State as a 24-year old head coach. Moore spent five seasons at the helm of the Lancers from 1989-94 and compiled a 76-59 record. Moore then joined the UConn staff ahead of the 1994-95 season.
