Coordinator of Strength and Conditioning
Mark Thobe began at the University of Dayton in August 2001 as a strength and conditioning coach. He is responsible for all aspects of athletic performance programming for football, volleyball, baseball and men's soccer, and directs strength performance programs for women's cross country, women's track & field and men's cross country. Mark also provides education and advice on nutrition basics through one-on-one consults and newsletters, and manages the Olsen Athletic Performance Center. Before joining Dayton, Mark spent one year with the University of Oregon as a graduate assistant, where he assisted with football and oversaw performance programs for women's soccer, men's tennis and women's tennis. He previously worked as a graduate assistant at Texas A&M Kingsville, implementing strength and conditioning programs for all sports, and began his career as an intern with the Indianapolis Colts. Mark earned a Bachelor of Education in Exercise Science from the University of Dayton (1999), a Master of Science in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University (2000), and completed post-graduate studies in Muscle Physiology at the University of Oregon. As a student-athlete at Dayton, he was part of the varsity football team that won two Pioneer Football League championships. As a senior, he was voted team captain and received the Chief Toscani Hitter's Award and the White Allen Most Valuable Player Award.
