He has enjoyed national success as a student-athlete, assistant coach and head coach throughout his career. He is just the ninth coach in the 78-year history of the sport at the University of Delaware. Since taking over the program, DeLuca has coached 39 all-conference performers and seven conference major award winners. He has additionally guided 10 Blue Hens who went on to earn USILA All-American honors. DeLuca’s impact on the academic achievement of his student-athletes has been equally impressive, resulting in program records for highest overall semester, year and cumulative team grade point average while producing six USILA Scholar All America selections. He led Delaware to four double-digit win seasons in his first six full seasons, making him the first head coach in the history of the program to accomplish that feat. Additionally, from 2018-2

Athletic Communications Contact
Eli Vaupen joined the University of Delaware Communications and Creative Services department in October 2024. He serves as the primary media contact for women's basketball and men's lacrosse, as well as the secondary media contact for football. Vaupen came to the 302 after spending the 2024 season as the PR & Communications Assistant with the Round Rock Express, the Triple-A Affiliate of the Texas Rangers. In his lone season with the E-Train, Vaupen worked with several award-winning major leaguers, including a pair of multi-time Cy Young winners in RHP Max Scherzer and RHP Jacob deGrom. Before arriving in Round Rock, Texas, Vaupen worked in the Philadelphia Flyers' community relations department during the 2023-24 season. He assisted with the planning and execution of community events, in-game experiences, and youth hockey-related programs, including the Flyers Recess school assembly program. Vaupen also oversaw all in-kind donation requests for the department. Prior to his move to the pros, Vaupen spent over five years in the athletic communications office at Temple University. He served as the secondary media contact for the Owls' football program, working his way up from a student intern to a graduate assistant. In addition to his media work, the Plano, Texas native worked one season in football recruiting on 10th and Diamond. Keith "Radar" McCarthy joined the University of Delaware as the Associate AD, Equipment Operations in June 2019. McCarthy arrives in Newark after spending the last four years as the head football, men's lacrosse, baseball and sprint equipment manager for Cornell. There, he oversaw all ordering for the team, issued and collected equipment and clothing, oversaw laundry operations and the fitting and repair of all equipment. Prior to his time with the Big Red, McCarthy worked for seven years at Kutztown University. He also has stops at Widener and as the Director of Football Operations at Father Judge High School (2003-06). A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, McCarthy graduated from Edinboro University in 2003 and got his masters degree in sports administration from California University of PA in 2010.

Assistant Coach
Mark Bieda, a 2022 University of Delaware men’s lacrosse alumnus and former assistant coach, returned to Newark as an assistant coach in June 2025. Bieda returns to the 302 after spending the 2025 season as offensive coordinator with the Marquette Golden Eagles. Under Bieda, the Marquette man-up offense ranked second in the nation, going .556 with the extra man. Bieda joined the Golden Eagles after one season as an assistant coach at Delaware in 2024, under DeLuca. UD boasted the nation’s No. 4 man-up offense, scoring at a .528 clip with the extra man, and turned the ball over at the second-lowest rate in the country. In addition to assisting offensive coordinator Matt Rewkowski with the man-up unit, Bieda worked on the defensive side with goalie Kevin Ellington, who ranked third nationally in save percentage (.590) and was fifth in NCAA Division I with 13.36 saves per game. The Blue Hens, who allowed just 9.43 goals per game (fifth nationally), went 9-5 overall and 6-1 in Coastal Athletic Association play before falling to Towson in the CAA title game. Prior to his first stint as a coach at Delaware, Bieda served alongside his brother, Scott, at Michigan as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2023 campaign. While with the Wolverines, Bieda worked with faceoff and wing players on a unit that ended the season eighth nationally in faceoff win percentage, while faceoff specialist Justin Wietfeldt earned USILA Third Team All-America honors.
