Tray Scott

Biography

Tray Scott was named UGA defensive line coach on February 10, 2017, after serving two years in a similar position at the North Carolina. Scott was briefly hired as the defensive line coach at Ole Miss in January 2017, before accepting the Georgia job prior to that season. Since arriving in Athens, Scott has had eight defensive linemen drafted, including five in the opening round. In fact, Scott had a record-breaking three First Round selections (Travon Walker, Jordan Davis, Devonte Wyatt) in 2022, including the No. 1 overall pick in Walker to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and bolstered his overall number with a trio taken in the 2025 NFL Draft (Mykel Williams, Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, Warren Brinson). Also during his tenure at UGA, the Bulldogs have won the 2021 and 2022 College Football Playoff National Championships, won 12 or more games six times (2017, ’19, ’21, ’22, ’23, ‘25), won four Southeastern Conference titles (2017, ’22, ’24, ’25) and earned nine consecutive appearances in a New Year’s Six Bowl game. The 2017 ‘Dogs also played in the CFP national championship game. Scott directed a defensive front that helped Georgia go 12-2 in 2025, win its second consecutive SEC crown and advance to the CFP quarterfinal round for the second straight year.
