Biography

University of Louisville lacrosse coach Scott Teeter announced that Dennis Truman was named an assistant coach and director of operations in January 2026. A retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class, accomplished entrepreneur, and lifelong teacher of leadership, Truman joined the Cardinals program in 2025 after first working around the team in 2024 as an ACC/ESPN color commentator. Truman officially joined the Louisville staff in the 2024-25 season as a program volunteer, providing on-field assistance during practices and games while leading the team’s leadership and character development initiatives. His coaching philosophy, rooted in accountability, preparation, and mental toughness, reflects the same core principles that defined his decorated 20-year military career. Before joining the Cardinals, Truman served as a head coach for Sacred Heart Academy from 2017-25, establishing the program as one of the premier high school teams in Kentucky while becoming the winningest coach in the program’s history. Under his leadership, Sacred Heart captured multiple state championships, advanced to the title game nearly every season, and won the regional championship each year he coached. His commitment to player growth and culture produced remarkable individual success as well, including 15 First-Team All-State selections, 18 Second-Team All-State honorees, seven USA Lacrosse All-Americans, and players recognized as the state’s Midfielder of the Year, Attack Player of the Year, and Goalie
