Curt Wiese

Biography

Curt Wiese has accomplished 113 career wins, seven Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) North Division titles, five NCAA Division II playoff appearances, three overall NSIC championships, two perfect 11-0 regular seasons, and an .794 winning percentage since taking over as UMD's sixth head coach on Dec. 21, 2012. He's produced 32 All-Americans and 73 All-NSIC First Team selections while his Bulldogs have earned NSIC All-Academic status 148 times, including 12 College Sports Communicators (CoSIDA) Academic All-Americans. Wiese is the second-winningest coach in UMD program history with 104 victories. His teams have earned nine or more wins nine times, including perfect 11-0 regular seasons in 2018 and other successful campaigns. In 2013, he won the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award for Division II. Wiese was elevated to head coach after five years as offensive coordinator, where the Bulldogs finished near the top of NCAA II scoring four times and produced 15 All-Americans. He came to UMD in February 2008 following two years as head coach at NCAA Division III Marietta College (Ohio), where he compiled a 9-11 record. Prior to Marietta, he worked as a graduate assistant at Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Wiese played college football as a quarterback, spending three seasons at Minnesota State University-Mankato (1995-97) before transferring to Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where he quarterbacked the Pointers to a share of the WIAC title in 1998.
