Addison Williams is in his second season as Nebraska's secondary coach in 2026. In his 17th season of coaching, Williams has coached at four Power Four programs with experience in the Big Ten, Big 12 and SEC. In addition to his experience at the highest level of college football, Williams also boasts experience leading a defense. He was the defensive coordinator at UCF in 2023 and 2024, and Williams also coordinated the defenses at Furman (2019) and Tusculum (2016). Williams has also excelled as a defensive backs coach. His work as defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach helped UCF allow the fewest passing yards per game among all Big 12 teams in 2023. In his first season at Nebraska in 2025, the Huskers ranked third nationally in pass defense. NEBRASKA (2025) Williams had an impressive debut season coaching Nebraska's secondary in 2025. The Huskers allowed only 154.1 passing yards per game to rank third nationally in pass defense. NU also ranked second nationally in touchdown passes allowed (9). Each of Nebraska's first three opponents were limited to fewer than 70 yards passing, marking the first time since 1990 that Nebraska had held three consecutive opponents to fewer than 100 passing yards. On the season, Nebraska held five opponents to fewer than 150 passing yards and 10 opponents to fewer than 200 passing yards. Dave Tollefson is in his first season as a Nebraska defensive analyst in 2026. Tollefson first joined the Huskers following the 2025 regular season, as he worked with the NU defensive line for the Las Vegas Bowl. Tollefson was a standout defensive end for Northwest Missouri State in 2004 and 2005. Tollefson was the conference defensive player of the year as a senior in 2005, when he set the Bearcats’ season record with 12.5 sacks. Tollefson finished his career with 21.0 sacks, ending his career with the second-highest sack total in Northwest Missouri State history. Tollefson was selected in the seventh round of the 2006 NFL Draft, becoming just the fourth Northwest Missouri State player to be drafted. He went on to spend six seasons in the NFL, playing in 78 games. He totaled 90 tackles and 10.5 sacks in his NFL career. In 2023, Tollefson was inducted into the Northwest Missouri State M-Club Hall of Fame.

Jalyn Gramstad is in his first season on the Nebraska staff in 2026, serving as a graduate assistant/offense. Gramstad joined the staff after playing quarterback for Nebraska in 2024 and 2025. He played in four games and completed 6-of-8 passes for 27 yards while rushing for two yards. Prior to Nebraska, Gramstad spent four years at Northwestern Collge in Iowa. He led the Raiders to the NAIA national championship in 2022 and a runner-up finish in 2023. At Northwestern, Gramstad completed 438-of-647 passes (68 percent) for 6,237 yards and 60 touchdowns. He added 1,822 rushing yards with 31 touchdowns. In 2023, Gramstad was the NAIA Player of the Year, the GPAC Player of the Year and a first-team All-American.

Jamar Mozee is in his third season on the Nebraska staff in 2026. Mozee is in his first season as the Huskers’ assistant head coach, earning a promotion after spending his first two seasons on staff as a senior football assistant. Mozee has helped Nebraska to a winning record in each of his first two seasons, the first back-to-back winning seasons for the Huskers in a decade. NU has been ranked in at least one weekly poll in each of his two seasons. Prior to Nebraska, Mozee was a successful high school coach in Missouri. As the head coach at Lee’s Summit North High School for nine seasons from 2015 to 2023, Mozee won 64 games and was a three-time conference coach of the year. He led the Broncos to four conference championships and a pair of state semifinal appearances. NEBRASKA (2024-25) Mozee was a senior football assistant in his first two seasons on staff. He helped Nebraska to a 7-6 record in his first season in 2024. The Huskers posted their first winning season since 2016 and won a bowl game for the first time since 2015. Despite losing its starting quarterback in the ninth game of the season, Nebraska finished 7-6 again in 2025, marking the Huskers’ first back-to-back winning seasons in a decade. Phil Simpson is in his second season on the Nebraska defensive staff in 2026. Simpson is in his second stint on Matt Rhule's Husker staff after serving as a defensive quality control coach in 2023. In between his time at Nebraska, Simpson worked as a senior defensive analyst at Florida State in 2024. Simpson is in his third straight season coaching at a Power Four school following a nine-year high school coaching career in Florida. As a college coach, Simpson has gained experience in the Big Ten and the ACC. In his first season at Nebraska in 2023, Simpson worked with a Husker defense that ranked in the top 15 nationally in rushing defense, total defense and scoring defense. The Huskers ranked in the top 30 nationally in total defense in 2025. At the high school level, Simpson spent four years as the head coach at Homestead High School following five years as a high school assistant. Simpson led Homestead to a 23-4 record in his final two seasons with a trip to the state championship game in 2022. NEBRASKA (2023; 2025) Simpson coached Nebraska's outside linebackers in 2025. The play of his position group helped Nebraska rank third nationally in pass defense and 30th in total defense. The group also helped the Huskers post their first shutout in 16 years. Rob Aurich is in his first season as Nebraska’s defensive coordinator in 2026. Aurich was a nominee for the 2025 Broyles Award, which is presented annually to the nation’s best assistant coach. Aurich has made a rapid rise up the ranks in his first 12 coaching seasons. He began his career at the Division II level, spending four seasons at Bemidji State from 2014 to 2017. Aurich then spent six seasons (2018-23) in the FCS before coaching at San Diego State in 2024 and 2025. Aurich has served as the defensive coordinator at the Division II, FCS and FBS levels and has produced a top-25 defense at each stop. In his first year as an FBS defensive coordinator in 2025, Aurich helped the San Diego State defense post a dominant season. The Aztecs led the country and set a Mountain West Conference record with three shutouts in 2025 while holding eight of their 12 regular-season opponents to 10 or fewer points. During the regular season when Aurich led the defense, SDSU ranked in the top 10 nationally in 10 categories. At the conclusion of the regular season when Aurich left for Nebraska, San Diego State owned the fifth-best scoring defense in Mountain West history and the top scoring defense at San Diego State since 1976. Rob Dvoracek is in his fourth season as Nebraska’s linebackers coach in 2026. Dvoracek came to Nebraska after spending two seasons coaching in the National Football League, and he has spent eight of his 10 seasons on a Matt Rhule staff. A talented young coach, Dvoracek has experience at two Power Four programs in addition to being an NFL assistant. He also boasts previous experience being part of a program rebuild, as Dvoracek spent two years at Baylor during the Bears’ three-year turnaround from a one-win season in 2017 to an 11-win season in 2019. Nebraska has ranked in the top 30 nationally in total defense in each of Dvoracek's first three seasons on staff. The Huskers are one of only five teams in the country who ranked in the top 30 in total defense in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Dvoracek's ability to develop players helped key Nebraska's defensive success, as he helped a different former walk-on earn All-Big Ten honors in both 2023 and 2024. NEBRASKA (2023-25): Dvoracek has been a key reason Nebraska has excelled defensively in his three seasons on staff. Over the three-year stretch from 2023 to 2025, Nebraska ranks 12th nationally in total defense, 13th in pass defense, 21st in rushing defense and 22nd in scoring defense.
