Clayton O'Callaghan

Biography

Associate Cross Country Head Coach and Assistant Track Coach Clayton O'Callaghan has been promoted to Track and Field / Cross Country Head Coach. Since his return to the Lakefront over two years ago, Clayton has coached UNO student-athletes to 12 different All-Southland honors. The 2024 women's track and field program set an indoor school record with 93 points, while the men's finished with their second-highest points total in school history. O'Callaghan returned to UNO in August 2023 after serving as an assistant Track and Field / Cross Country coach at Southeastern from 2021 to 2023, where he coached four individual Southland Champions. Clayton first joined the UNO staff as an assistant coach in July 2017 and was promoted to full-time assistant in 2019. As a former Privateer student-athlete from 2013 to 2017, he still holds the program record in the 1K event and was a member of the first recruiting class when the program returned in 2012. He finished as a two-time Academic All-American and seven-time Southland Conference Commissioner's List member, receiving the Mr. Privateer award. O'Callaghan holds USTFCCCA certifications including Technical Certification, Strength and Conditioning Certification, Level II Endurance Specialist, and Master's Endorsement in Long Distances.
