North Carolina men’s lacrosse head coach Joe Breschi announced the addition of offensive coordinator Jon Thompson to the Tar Heels’ coaching staff in June 2023. “We are excited to welcome Jon and his family to the Carolina Lacrosse community,” said Breschi. “Jon is smart, innovative, and experienced in building a vision for players to play with relentless confidence within the offense. He’s an outstanding relationship builder with his athletes, who brings passion and energy both on and off the field, and I’m excited to see the positive impact he has on our young men for years to come.” Thompson arrives in Chapel Hill after serving as the offensive coordinator at Air Force the past three seasons. In July of 2022, Thompson was promoted to associate head coach of the Falcons. “I’m excited for the opportunity to work with Coach Breschi and the wonderful student-athletes at North Carolina,” Thompson said. “Coach Breschi and I share a common bond over our passion for positivity, enthusiasm, and infectious energy, and I look forward to the future working with Joe and the tremendous young men at UNC." Under Thompson’s leadership, the Falcon offense increased its scoring average and shooting percentage in each of his three seasons at Air Force. In 2023, the unit broke the program’s single season scoring average, on their way to nationally ranked victories over Denver and Jacksonville.
