Biography

University of North Carolina women’s tennis and head coach Brian Kalbas announced Elizabeth Scotty as assistant coach in September 2025. Scotty, former Tar Heel and National Champion, returned to Carolina after spending the 2024-25 season as assistant coach with the Tennessee women’s tennis program. In her time at Tennessee, Scotty helped guide the Vols to a 20-8 overall record and 10-5 in SEC play. Tennessee wrapped up the 2024-2025 season ranked no. 10 after reaching the NCAA Championship Quarterfinals. Scotty and the Vols’ coaching staff also helped coach Elza Tomase to All-America and Honda Award Finalist honors. Prior to her coaching career, Scotty competed on the UNC women’s tennis team for five seasons. The Annapolis, Md. native compiled a 93-14 singles and 136-29 doubles record. Scotty had one of the most decorated careers as a Tar Heel in recent years. An eight-time national champion, Scotty left her mark on the Carolina program. The former Tar Heel looks to continue growing the program in this new role as assistant coach.
