Brock Sheahan

Biography

Brock Sheahan was named Catalino Family Head Hockey Coach in March 2025 after serving two seasons as associate head coach with the Irish. He becomes the fifth head coach in the modern era of the program. In his first two seasons back at Notre Dame, Sheahan was involved in all aspects of the Notre Dame program on a daily basis and was stationed with the defensemen during most games. He helped run Notre Dame’s special teams units, primarily focusing on the penalty kill team on game days. In his first season with the Irish, Sheahan was instrumental in the development of a young roster. His emphasis on player development led five graduates to sign professional contracts at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season, including a pair of NHL signees in Landon Slaggert (Chicago) and Drew Bavaro (Boston). His return to the Irish came following a stint as the head coach of the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League. In one season with the team he led the Wolves to a 35-29-5 regular season record. Prior to his time with the Wolves, Sheahan spent four seasons with the Chicago Steel of the USHL. With the Steel, Sheahan was a key component in the development of 28 NHL Draftees with five first-round selections and collegiate hockey stars, including current Irish junior Tyler Carpenter. During his time in the USHL, the Steel won two Anderson Cups, awarded to the league’s regular season champions (2019-20 & 2020-21), as well as capturing the 2021 Clark Cup championship.
