Billy Caldwell

Biography

Billy Caldwell joined Richmond as the Associate Head Coach of Cross Country and Track and Field in October 2024. A native of Downingtown, Pa., Caldwell joins the Spiders program from East Carolina University. While at ECU he served as the head coach of the Pirates cross country program and an assistant coach for the men's and women's track and field teams where he focused on the middle distance and distance runners (400M-10K and 3KSC) since August of 2022. As the Pirates head cross country and middle distance/distance coach, he was responsible for multiple facets of the program including recruiting coordinator for the event areas he covered, travel coordinator for the cross country and track & field teams and home meet event director. In 2024, he guided his Pirate distance group to 15 top-10 times in program history as well as helping a student-athlete to the program record in the 10,000m. In the outdoor season, Caldwell coached another student-athlete to the finals of the 800m and 1,500m at the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Championships. In his first year at the helm of the Pirates distance group, Caldwell oversaw 31 personal records, 24 top-10 marks in program history and the program record in the 10,000m. He also saw two individuals qualify to finals at the AAC Indoor Track & Field Championships as well as two in the AAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships scoring ten points in the indoor season and eight points in the outdoor season. “The culture of success made me
