University of South Dakota Women's Triathlon

Kyle Joplin is an accomplished triathlon coach with over a decade of experience in the field. He is widely recognized as a leading coach in the sport and currently serves as the head coach at the University of South Dakota. During his tenure at USD, Joplin has led his team to impressive finishes at the Women’s Collegiate National Championship, including second-place finishes in 2018 and 2019, third in 2021, and fourth in 2022. Under Joplin's guidance, his athletes have achieved significant personal success, with Maddie Lavin, Sammy Whitting, and Micah Poellet qualifying for U19/U13 World Championships. Additionally, Leah Drengenberg, Ella Kubas, Maddie Lavin, and Cass Dalbec have been named All-Americans. Before his work at USD, Joplin was the head coach for the triathlon team at Centenary College of Louisiana, where he achieved similar successes. He led the women's team to a second-place finish at the Collegiate National Championships and coached the team to the highest GPA in the country. He also served as the assistant swim coach and coached several NCAA qualifiers, helping the team achieve the highest GPA on campus. Joplin has been an instrumental figure in the triathlon community, having served as the Vice President of the College Triathlon Coaches Association (CTCA) from 2016-2021 and the President from 2021-present. A graduate of Auburn University, where he earned degrees in finance and economics, Joplin has had coaching stops in Mississippi, Alabama, Virginia, Louisia
