Jill Rizzo

Biography

Jill Rizzo is in her in her second season (2026) as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator for the Women of Troy. Previously an assistant at Marquette for three seasons (2022-24), Rizzo joined the Trojans on Monday, July 8, 2024. Rizzo was part of the Marquette staff when it was named the 2023 Big East Coaching Staff of the Year. She helped lead the Golden Eagles to their first-ever NCAA tournament berth in 2023 when Marquette posted a program-best 15-4 record with a 5-1 mark in the Big East. At Marquette, Rizzo helped run the defensive and goalie units. In 2024, with Rizzo on staff, the Golden Eagles ranked in the top 10 nationally in draw controls (297) and in draw controls per game (17.47). Offensively, Marquette was in the top 25 in the country and led the Big East with over 32 shots per game led by Meg Bireley (8.94 shots per game) and Leigh Steiner (7.12 shots per game), who each ranked first and second in the conference. As a collegiate student-athlete at Ohio State, Rizzo played goalie for the Buckeyes (2016-21). She was a five-year starter—including the COVID season in 2020—saved a program-record 777 shots and had 36-career games with double-digit saves. She tallied a .469 save percentage and won 28 games during her time in Columbus. Her 203 career ground balls also put her at No. 2 all-time in the Ohio State record books and she was a two-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week (once in 2017 and once in 2019).
