Washington and Lee University Women's Basketball

Jan Hathorn, Washington and Lee University's Michael F. Walsh Director of Athletics, announced the hiring of Brittney Kemp as the women's basketball program's sixth head coach and Assistant Professor of Physical Education effective July, 2024. The Generals continued their recent success in Kemp's first year at the helm, as she led the team to a 25-5 overall record and a 14-2 mark in ODAC play. W&L appeared in the ODAC championship game for the third consecutive season, and proceeded to earn an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament, the program's fourth straight trip to the national playoffs. Kemp also helped coach Mary Schleusner '26 to numerous awards, including First Team All-America from the WBCA and D3hoops.com, D3hoops.com Region 6 Player of the Year and ODAC Player and Defensive Player of the Year.
