DD Shelton

Biography

DD Shelton joined the Wright State Women’s soccer coaching staff in February 2026. Shelton came to Wright State after spending the previous five of the last six seasons at Bellevue University. There, she served as the goalkeeper coach, helping coach the Bruins to a Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) championship in 2022. Under the direction of Shelton, Bellevue also finished as the CAC runner-up in 2020, 2021, and 2025, while qualifying for the NAIA National Tournament in 2021 and 2022. Shelton oversaw the development of the 2022 CAC Goalkeeper of the Year, Jenn Amaro, as well as the 2021 CAC Goalkeeper of the Year, Sabrina Staufenbiel. Shelton’s guidance helped Amaro sign a professional contract with Nexaca in Mexico. A standout goalkeeper at the University of Nebraska Omaha, Shelton holds multiple program records, including most saves in a single season (101), most saves per game in a single season (6.31), and is the career leader in saves per game (5.78). On the field, DD was a three-time Summit League Defensive Player of the Week recipient as well as a Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week Honorable Mention. Shelton was also a standout in the classroom, named to the Summit League Honor Roll four times, a Summit League Academic Distinguished Scholar three times, and Academic All-Summit League once.
