Brown University Men's Water Polo

Felix Mercado was named head coach of the men's and women's water polo program in 2007. Mercado was elevated to Director of Water Polo in the summer of 2024, while continuing to hold the post of the head coach for the men's program. In 2024, Mercado led the men's squad to an 18-10 overall record and 6-4 mark in conference play. Mercado, who was named 2024 NWPC Coach of the Tournament, guided Brown to a second-place finish in the NWPC Tournament after beating Harvard 11-9 in the semifinals, before falling to Princeton in the final. It was the first time since 2016 that Brown reached the NWPC championship game. Under Mercado's guidance, Ilias Stothart was named Third Team All-American while Máté Tymcyna and Dimitrios Kratimenos was named Honorable Mention. Stothart was named First Team All-Conference with Tymcyna and Kratimenos named Second Team and Mac Berry taking Honorable Mention honors. Mercado led the Brown men’s team to its first appearance in the NCAA Championship since 1990 in 2014 after the team claimed its first CWPA title since 1985. He guided the team to a 27-7 overall mark and its first Northern Division title since 2009. In 2014, he gained both CWPA Northern Division Coach of the Year honors and Dick Russell Coach of the CWPA Tournament accolades while mentoring a pair of All-Americans in Henry Fox ’15 and Will Klein ’16.
