Assistant Coach
Collin Hummel, a 2017 graduate of Lewisburg Area High School who went on to become a two-time Division II All-American during a stellar career at Bloomsburg, joined the Bucknell coachnig staff in the fall of 2024. After graduating magna cum laude in 2022 from Bloomsburg with a degree in business administration and marketing, Hummel began his collegiate coaching career first at Millersville as a graduate assistant in 2022-23 and then as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Frostburg State in 2023-24. In his one year working with the men’s and women’s teams at Frostburg, the program recorded 24 school records and 266 lifetime bests. Well known in the local swimming community, Hummel has also worked as an assistant coach with the Greater Susquehanna Valley YMCA and the Bison Aquatics Club. Hummel has also worked at the Navy Elite Sprint Camp, and this past June, he was an assistant coach and counselor at the University of Virginia’s Cavalier Swim Camp, where he worked directly under Virginia head coach and 2024 U.S. Olympic head coach Todd DeSorbo. “We are excited to welcome Collin back to the Lewisburg area having grown up in the shadows of Bucknell,” said head coach Dan Schinnerer at the time of his hiring. “For a young coach, he has had great experiences and sought out good opportunities to grow as a coach. We look forward to him bringing his energy and enthusiasm to the team.”

Assistant Coach
Devin Javens, most recently the head swimming and diving coach at Smith College, joined Dan Schinnerer’s staff at Bucknell as an assistant coach in May 2025. Javens, a former team captain and Division III NCAA qualifier at Denison University, helped rebuild the Smith program during her three seasons with the Pioneers. “We are very excited to welcome Devin to the Bucknell Swimming and Diving family,” said Schinnerer. “She brings a very strong set of experiences both as a coach and in her own career as a student-athlete. Throughout the interview process, it was clear that Devin placed a tremendous value on creating a strong, positive team culture and helping each member of a team reach their fullest potential. Devin also demonstrated a strong knowledge of our sport and a good eye for technical details. We know all of these things will help our program continue to improve.” Javens earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature and educational studies from Denison in May 2022. She helped the Big Red women’s swimming and diving team to a third-place finish at the 2022 NCAA Championships, and she was the North Coast Athletic Conference silver medalist in the 200 breaststroke as a senior. A native of Hermitage, Pa., and a graduate of Hickory High School, Javens was a CSCAA First Team Scholar All-American in 2022 and was a three-time member of the NCAC Academic Honor Roll. Diving Coach
Former University of Connecticut standout diver Errol Carter enters his 22nd season as coach of the Bison men's and women's diving program in 2017-18. The 2009, 2012 and 2013 Patriot League Diving Coach of the Year, Carter graduated from UConn in 1996 with a bachelor of science degree in therapeutic recreational services. He concluded an internship at the Institute of Living in Hartford in 1998, which completed his undergraduate requirements. While at UConn, Carter was a four-year letterwinner as a diver. He advanced to the Big East finals off the three-meter board in both his sophomore (1993-94) and junior (1994-95) seasons. He was also a conference finalist off the one-meter board in 1993-94. Carter helped his team win its first New England championship in 1994-95 by placing fifth on both boards. Carter, in 2003, helped Bison diver Adam Freeman to a Patriot League title and several school-record performances. In 2005, he coached Freeman and Erika Mannix to the NCAA Zone "A" Diving Championships. In recent years Carter helped Rebecca Bersani to four straight all-league nods, Allison FitzPatrick earn her first all-league citation as a senior in 2010 and he helped David Magaro earn all-league honors as a freshman and an NCAA Zone Diving berth as a sophomore. Carter then guided Tara Boyle and Katie Hetherington to three Patriot League titles over a two-year span.
