Head Coach
Coach Dan Gelderloos began as men's and women's swimming and diving coach at Calvin in 1996. He will head into his 29th season as head men's and women's swim coach at Calvin this fall. Combined, he has led the Calvin men's and women's swimming and diving programs to 25 MIAA Titles - 17 on the women's side and eight on the men's side. He has led the Calvin men's team to three top-10 national team finishes. He has led the women's program to five top-10 national team finishes. In the classroom, his teams have produced 15 Academic All-Americans. They have also earned the MIAA Team GPA Award a combined 21 times for producing a cumulative team grade point average of 3.30 or above. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Gelderloos was a four-year varsity member of the Calvin men's swim team between 1990-1994. As a senior in 1994, he captained the Knights to a fourth-place MIAA finish. A 1994 Calvin graduate, Gelderloos earned a master's degree at the University of Memphis and completed his master's work in physical education at Western Michigan University. At Memphis, he also served as an assistant swim coach with the Memphis U.S.S. club program. Gelderloos and his wife Vicki live in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with their sons Ryan, Will, and Luke. Also an avid cyclist and runner, Gelderloos competes in area triathlons and has completed the Grand Rapids River Bank 25K Run several times.

Started as an assistant coach for the Calvin swim team in 2021. A four-year swimmer at Calvin from 2012-16, and was part of three MIAA championship teams in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Named Honorable Mention All-America at the NCAA Championships as a sophomore, junior and senior. Part of multiple school records as part of different relays at Calvin. Worked as head coach of the Grand Rapids Christian women's swim and dive team for five seasons before joining Calvin as an assistant. Prior to joining the Calvin program as an assistant, Schroder was a frequent voice over the microphone in the Venema Aquatic Center as the announcer for major MIAA, MHSAA or other big meets hosted by Calvin, a role he still fills today.

Assistant Coach - Diving
Olivia Phillips joined Calvin's coaching staff as the Diving Coach in 2025. She dove at the University of Illinois and graduated from there with a degree in interdisciplinary health. She attended East Grand Rapids High School. Her favorite part of coaching is setting plans for divers to achieve their goals. She is a mother of three children.
