Hannah Nelson

Biography

Hannah Nelson completed her first season as an assistant coach for both the Concordia University Wisconsin women's hockey and women's lacrosse programs during the 2024-25 academic year. Nelson joined CUW after spending two seasons as an assistant coach with the women's hockey program at Buffalo State. Prior to her coaching career, she was a two-sport student-athlete at Trine University from 2017 to 2022, competing in both ice hockey and lacrosse. A member of Trine's inaugural women's ice hockey team, Nelson made history by scoring the program's first-ever goal—the first goal by a collegiate women's ice hockey player from the state of Indiana. She graduated in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education and minors in Coaching, Exercise Science, and Sport Psychology. She went on to earn a master's degree in Organizational Leadership from Trine in 2023. Nelson's achievements extended beyond the rink and field. She was a three-time American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Krampade All-American Scholar and a three-time member of the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll. A native of Libertyville, Illinois, Nelson has also contributed to the sport at the national level. She served on the coaching staff for the USA Hockey U15 National Development Camp from 2019 to 2020 and worked at the USA Hockey National Camp in 2019, 2020, and 2022.
