In his first season, Current helped the Bluejays to the 2025 BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles, the program’s first since 2019, and set Creighton’s BIG EAST record for conference wins with 17. Under his direction, the offense improved in nearly every area in his first season. Bluejay hitters registered an .842 OPS in BIG EAST play, which was a 76-point improvement over the previous season. The Bluejays also averaged 8.19 runs per game, which was more than two runs better than 2024. Nolan Sailors, Connor Capece and Matt Scherrman all made significant strides on their way to collecting All-BIG EAST Second Team honors. Before joining the Bluejays, Current spent the previous seven seasons at the University of South Carolina, where he served as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for two seasons and Director of Player Development for five seasons. During his time in Columbia, Current helped the Gamecocks to four NCAA Tournament berths, including Super Regional appearance
